Taskrol feature

Warranty Callback Tracking for Appliance Repair

Open the completed job, tap Warranty Call, pick a technician and a time. The return visit is linked to the original repair and your numbers stay honest.

The short answer

In Taskrol a warranty return visit is created from the original job: open the completed job, choose Warranty Call, pick the technician, date and time. The new job copies the customer, address and appliances, links back to the original, and stays out of job counts unless you charge for something on it.

A warranty return is part of every repair company's week: the same machine, the same address, a second trip you usually don't bill. The software's job is to make that trip quick to book and impossible to confuse with new work.

In Taskrol the return visit is not a new job you type from scratch. You create it from the job it belongs to, so the customer, the address and every appliance on the ticket come across in one step, and the new job carries a visible link back to the original. Parts and invoices stay where they were sold — on the original job, one tap away.

Your statistics treat it the same way. A free warranty trip is left out of job counts, so the numbers describe paying work; the moment you take a payment on the visit, it counts like any other job.

How to book a warranty return visit in Taskrol

  1. Open the completed job. A warranty return starts from the job it belongs to. The option appears on jobs marked Completed, and not on a job that is itself a warranty return, so every return points at the original repair.
  2. Choose Warranty Call from the job menu. Tap the three-dot menu on the job and choose Warranty Call. Pick the technician, the date and the time — Taskrol suggests the next open slot in your working hours — and switch on Notify client if you want the customer texted about the visit.
  3. Save and work the new job. Taskrol creates Warranty job #N with the customer, phone, address, notes and every appliance copied from the original, and opens it. It sits in the Warranty column in dark red and shows “Warranty from #…” at the top: tap it to jump to the original job and back.
  4. Close it like any other job. Order a part and mark it received, take a payment if you sell something, then complete it. A completed warranty job keeps a dark red stripe in the list, so it never blends into ordinary work.
  • One tap, nothing retyped

Customer, phone, service address, notes and every appliance — type, brand, model and serial — come across from the original job. The technician arrives knowing what was fixed last time.

  • Always tied to the original repair

A return is created only from the original job, never from another return, so the second and third trips all point back at the repair that came back.

  • Linked both ways

“Warranty from #…” on the return opens the original job in one tap, and the customer's history lists the repair and every return in order.

  • Parts and invoices stay with the sale

Parts and invoices are not duplicated onto the return. They stay on the original job, so the same part is never counted twice.

  • Honest numbers

Free warranty trips are left out of job counts. Take a payment on the visit and it counts like any other job. The Stats screen shows warranty jobs as a number of their own.

  • Anyone on the team, every plan

Owners, managers, office operators and technicians can create a warranty return by default, on every plan including free Solo. Take the permission away from anyone who shouldn't have it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I create a warranty job in Taskrol?

Open the completed job, tap the three-dot menu and choose Warranty Call. Pick the technician, date and time, switch on Notify client if you want the customer texted, and tap Save. The new warranty job opens right away.

What gets copied to the warranty job?

The customer, phone, service address, notes, lead source and every appliance with its type, brand, model and serial. Parts and invoices are not copied: they stay on the original job, which the warranty job links back to.

Why don't I see Warranty Call on a job?

It appears only on jobs marked Completed, and not on a job that is already a warranty return — every return is created from the original repair. If the item is grey, your user doesn't have the warranty permission; an owner or manager can turn it on.

Do warranty jobs count in my statistics?

A free warranty trip is left out of job counts, so it doesn't make the business look busier than it is. If you take a payment on the visit, it counts like any other job. The Stats screen shows warranty jobs as their own number.

Can I delete a warranty job created by mistake?

Yes, as long as it isn't completed or cancelled and your role is allowed to delete jobs. Deleting the return leaves the original job as it was.

Does Taskrol handle manufacturer or home warranty claims?

No. This is for your own workmanship warranty — the return visit after your repair. Taskrol does not dispatch or bill manufacturer or home warranty network jobs.
